Quick Start

This guide walks you through the most important first steps after installation.

Step 1 — Activate your licence

Go to DPOKit → Settings → Licence and paste your licence key. Click Activate.

If you are on the Free tier, skip this step — no licence key is needed.

Step 2 — Run your first scan

  1. Go to DPOKit → Data Map.
  2. Click Run Scan Now.
  3. The scanner will crawl your pages and detect third-party scripts, cookies, and tracking endpoints.
  4. Results appear in the Detected Vendors table within a few minutes.

Step 3 — Review detected vendors

For each detected vendor:

  • Confirm the purpose and data categories are correct.
  • Set the legal basis (consent, legitimate interest, contract, legal obligation).
  • Assign a retention period for the data they process.

Vendors you approve move to the Data Map and feed your ROPA export.

Step 4 — Configure your consent banner

  1. Go to DPOKit → Consent.
  2. Choose your consent categories (Analytics, Marketing, Personalisation are pre-configured).
  3. Customise the banner headline and button labels.
  4. Click Save & Preview to see the banner on your site.
  5. When ready, set Status to Active and save.

From this point, non-essential scripts are blocked until the visitor grants consent.

Step 5 — Set up DSAR intake (Pro/Agency)

  1. Go to DPOKit → DSARs → Settings.
  2. Enable the DSAR intake form and copy the shortcode: [pv_dsar_form].
  3. Add the shortcode to a page (e.g. your Privacy Policy page).
  4. Configure the acknowledgement email address and statutory deadline.
